Configure Custom Field

Introduction

Custom fields allow you to tailor the asset detail page to fit your organization’s specific needs. Whether you want to track internal codes, technical specs, specific data, or pricing info, you can create and apply custom fields to ensure your team captures the right data.

Step-by-Step: Configure Custom Fields

  1. Navigate to the Custom Fields Tab
There are two sections where you can add custom fields:
Specification – For technical fabric information (e.g., weave type, shrinkage, internal codes)
Pricing – For fabric-related pricing info (e.g., discount tier, payment terms)

⚠️ The steps to fill out both sections are basically the same. In this article, we'll use the Specification section as an example.

  2. Click [+ Add Field] under the Specification section and fill in the following:
You'll see several options you need to configure. Here's what each one means:
    • Visibility Controls = who can see the field, for Public it will be visible to all internal users (org owner, admin, member, and guest), while for Private, it will be only visible to org owner, admin and member.
    • Field Name = state a clear name of your custom field (e.g., Shrinkage %, Weave Type, Batch, Buyer Name)
    • Field Type and Options = this defines the format of the data the field will hold. Choose the one that best suits the kind of information you want to collect between Text, Numeric, Single Option Selection, Single Selection (Multiple Dropdown, One Selection), Multi-selection (Multiple Dropdown, Multi-selection), and Date.
    • Apply To (Material Type) = this determines which material types the field will appear on. Options are include Woven, Knit, Non-woven, Leather, Trims, and Others.
📌 When you select a material type (e.g., Woven), the custom field will apply to all assets labeled with that type. Additionally, you can select multiple material type for one custom field.
    • Actions = If you need to duplicate or remove a custom field.
⚠️ Note: Removing a field will also remove any values already filled in across your assets.

💡 Tips:
Only Org Owner and Admins can create custom fields.
Org Owner, Admins, and Members can fill in field values later.
All created custom fields are shared across your organization and groups.
